The pole sitter, #18-Busch led 72 laps early until a bad pit stop and speeding penalty early led to a 16th place finish. #11-Hamlin led the most lap at 150 but a mis-communication on the final pit stop when the crew chief thought Hamlin called for four tires instead of two, mired Hamlin in 13th on the restart and he could get to 2nd but not catch Kahne. Points leader #17-Matt Kenseth finished 13th and his points lead is down to 16 over #88-Earnhardt Jr.
There were only 3 cautions for 15 yellow flag laps. There were 16 lead changes among 8 drivers. The average speed was 116.226mph.

Some Chassis Selections by Teams for this race

  • Chassis selections for New Hampshire: see the list of many teams and what chassis were selected by the team to run at New Hampshire:
MISSING? why are some teams missing? some teams do not report what chassis in the race previews, press releases of websites.
#1-Jamie McMurray: Crew Chief Kevin "Bono" Manion and the #1 Bass Pro Shops/Allstate Chevy team will bring Chassis #1210 back to New Hampshire. Chassis #1210 was raced at Martinsville earlier this year, where it finished 20th.
#2-Brad Keselowski: and the #2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger team will race chassis PRS-810 during Sunday's Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Keselowski last raced this chassis to a 15th-place finish at Darlington Raceway in May. The featured tag line on the rear bumper of the #2 Miller Lite Dodge this weekend in New Hampshire is "It's Miller Time." One of the most-recognized marketing slogans in recent memory, "It's Miller Time" can be found within many popular culture references. MillerCoors decided to bring back the slogan earlier this year.
#5-Kasey Kahne: crew chief Kenny Francis has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 5-663. Kahne has raced this car twice in 2012 and most recently scored a top-five finish at Richmond International Raceway in April.
#9-Marcos Ambrose: the #9 Richard Petty Motorsports team has prepared chassis No. 754 for this weekend's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire. This DEWALT Ford was run previously this season at Martinsville and Dover.
#10-David Reutimann will pilot chassis No. 356, purchased from Richard Childress Racing in the off-season. The Florida native last drove this chassis at Kentucky Speedway. He also drove the chassis at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Auto Club Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, Kansas Speedway and Dover International Speedway this season. He had his best showing in the chassis at Kentucky Speedway where he drove from the 38th starting spot to a 23rd-place finish. His best qualifying effort was at Kansas Speedway where he qualified in the 16th spot.
#14-Tony Stewart: and crew chief Steve Addington are bringing Chassis No. 14-710 which debuted in the Capital City 400 at Richmond in April, where it qualified 22nd and led four times for 118 laps before a late-race caution canceled Stewart's two-and-a-half second lead and forced him to settle for a third-place finish. It was then tested June 6-7 at Pocono and again during a Goodyear Tire Test June 12-13 at Bristol. The Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon will mark Chassis No. 14-710's second career start.
#15-Clint Bowyer: Primary Chassis No. 718 has not raced in 2012. It served as backup at Phoenix, Martinsville and Dover and tested at Nashville and Bristol. Backup chassis No. 712 raced at Phoenix where it started 16th and finished 30th. It also raced at Richmond where it started 23rd and finished seventh. Bowyer will make his 13th career start at New Hampshire on Sunday. In 12 previous New Hampshire starts, he has two wins (2007-2, 2010-2) and four top-10 finishes. He won the race from the pole position in the fall 2007 race. He started second and went on to win the fall 2010 race. Bowyer has led 474 laps at New Hampshire. Bowyer has an average starting position of 13th and finish of 17th.
#16-Greg Biffle: and the Matt Puccia led #16 Post-It / W.B. Mason Ford Fusion will bring primary chassis RK-778 which last ran Richmond and finished 18th. The backup chassis is RK-759 which last ran Phoenix in 2011 as the #6 finished 33rd.
#17-Matt Kenseth: will run primary chassis RK-802 which last raced at Dover. Crew Chief Jimmy Fennig: "We're going to work on qualifying more than we normally do this weekend. New Hampshire is a tough track because there isn't a lot of room to pass for position, so we want to make sure that we give Matt every advantage we can. We have a few other packages that we will try out during practices this weekend of things that we might want to do when we return in the fall during the Chase. We will unload with the same package we ran last September in our #17 Ford since it was pretty good, and we'll see what happens this Sunday." This weekend at Loudon, Kenseth will pilot the #17 NESN National Ford Fusion
#22-Sam Hornish Jr. and his Todd Gordon-led Penske Racing #22 Team will be racing their "PRS-824" Shell-Pennzoil Dodge Charger this weekend at New Hampshire. This is a new chassis in the "Double-Deuce" team's fleet of Dodge Chargers, but has been utilized once by teammate Brad Keselowski's Miller Lite Dodge Team. Keselowksi and his Paul Wolfe-led "Blue Deuce" crew raced this car at Richmond in the April 28 Capitol City 400. Keselowski drove from a 16th-place start to a ninth-place finish in that race. The "PRS-807" chassis will serve as the backup. It was in the transporter serving as the backup at Phoenix, Bristol and Martinsville, but has never seen any track time to date.
#27-Paul Menard will pilot Chassis No. 349 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. This #27 Duracell/Menards Chevy was last utilized at Martinsville Speedway in April where Menard started 11th and finished 26th.
#29-Kevin Harvick: will pilot Chassis No. 320 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable in this weekend's LENOX Industrial Tools 301. This former #33 racer was transformed to a #29 Rheem Chevy during the off-season and has been used once this season at Martinsville Speedway where Harvick notched a 19th-place finish.
#31-Jeff Burton will race chassis No. 382 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. This #31 Caterpillar Chevy was utilized in February at Phoenix International Raceway where engine issues thwarted Burton's top-five run and relegated him to a 33rd-place finish. This car also raced at Richmond International Raceway where an on-track incident knocked Burton and the #31 team out of contention, forcing them to settle for a 31st-place finish.
#39-Ryan Newman With one start already this season, Chassis No. 39-645 is no stranger to victory lane. In its only other start in 2012, Newman drove this chassis to the winner's circle at Martinsville Speedway. Newman won despite falling one lap down early in the race after receiving a penalty for speeding on pit road. And once he got back on the lead lap, Newman took advantage of every spot in front of him. He took his first and only lead of the day on lap 504 of 515, when he dove under the leaders after they collided in turn one. He held off another driver on the final restart in a tough duel before pulling away on the last lap to win. The chassis made four starts last year two at Martinsville and two at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. This chassis was also the race winner for Newman last July in Loudon, when Newman started on the pole and led 119 of 301 laps en route to his third victory at the track. In five total starts, chassis No. 39-645 has two victories, two poles (both at New Hampshire last year) and three top-10 finishes.
#42-Juan Pablo Montoya: crew chief Chris "Shine" Heroy and the #42 Degree Chevy team will come to New Hampshire with Chassis #1203. This chassis has two races under its belt this season: Phoenix where it finished 11th and Richmond where it came across the line 12th.
#43-Aric Almirola:: The #43 Medallion Financial Ford team has prepared chassis No. 804 for New Hampshire. This car ran earlier this season at Phoenix and Richmond.
#48-Jimmie Johnson: Chassis No. 715 serves as the primary for Johnson at New Hampshire. Chassis No. 689 serves as the backup.
#51-Kurt Busch Sunday's LENOX Industrial Tools 301 will be the third race of the 2012 season for Chassis No. 662. This car's best finish was also its first race of the season when the team competed with at Phoenix International Raceway in early March. Busch qualified 19th and raced the car to a respectable 15th-place finish. The team also used this particular car at Richmond in May, when perpetual issues with blown tires relegated the team to a 28th-place finish.
#55-Brian Vickers: will drive MWR chassis 715 the first race for this chassis in 2012. The backup chassis 714 finished eighth at Richmond with Mark Martin behind the wheel. Vickers owns two top-five finishes in 13 starts including a fifth-place finish on Sept. 25. He won the pole for the July 17, 2005 race. Sunday marks his 259th career Sprint Cup start.
#88-Dale Earnhardt Jr.: crew chief Steve Letarte and the #88 crew will unload Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 88-721 this weekend at New Hampshire. This is a new chassis that has not been raced.
#99-Carl Edwards the #99 Fastenal Blue Team will be bringing RK-801 this weekend to New Hampshire. This car previously ran at Phoenix and Richmond this year. Edwards led 206 laps with this car at Richmond and finished 10th.
