Johnson wins at Indianapolis: #48-Jimmie Johnson won the Crown Royal presents the Curtiss Shaver 400 at the Brickyard Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for his 3rd win of the year, 4th wins at Indianapolis [tying Jeff Gordon for the most Sprint Cup wins at Indy] and 58th career win.
#18-Busch finished 2nd followed by #16-Biffle, #88-Earnhardt Jr., #24-Gordon, #11-Hamlin, #39-Newman, $56-Truex Jr,. #2-Keselowski and #14-Stewart.
Points leader going into the race, #17-Matt Kenseth finished 35th after being involved in a wreck on lap 133, losing his points lead to #88-Earnhardt Jr., who now leads by 14 points. It is the first time Earnhardt Jr. has led the points since after New Hampshire in September 2004.
There were only 5 cautions for 25 yellow flag laps. There were 17 lead changes among 9 drivers. The average speed was 137.680mph.

Rain Out Procedures: the rain-out qualifying procedure for all three NASCAR national series is as follows: If first practice is run, but qualifying is unable to take place, the starting lineup will be based on speeds from the car's fastest lap from the first practice, with top-35 cars in owner points no longer segregated from the non-top 35 cars. Previously, the top 35 cars lined up in front of all other eligible car owners.

Chassis selections for Indy: see the list of many teams and what chassis were selected by the team to run at Indianapolus Motor Speedway:

#1-Jamie McMurray: Crew Chief Kevin "Bono" Manion and the #1 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats team will bring chassis #1112 back to Indianapolis. Chassis #1112 raced at Indianapolis last year earning a fourth- place finish, and at Darlington earlier this year, finishing 34th after sustaining damage from an on-track incident. McMurray has made nine starts at IMS, earning one win (2010), three top-fives and five top-10 finishes. He has completed 1,420 laps out of a possible 1,441 laps, or 98.5%. He has led 43 laps, and has an average starting position of 15.3 and an average finishing position of 13.1.
#2-Brad Keselowski: and the #2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger team will race chassis PRS-830 during Sunday's Crown Royal presents the Curtiss Shaver 400 at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). This is a brand-new chassis to the #2 fleet. The featured tag line on the rear bumper of the #2 Miller Lite Dodge this weekend in Indianapolis is "Cheers 2 Kissing Bricks." Kissing the yard of bricks that represents the start/finish line at IMS after winning at Indianapolis has become one of the most honored traditions in motorsports.
#5-Kasey Kahne: crew chief Kenny Francis has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 5-739. This is a new car that has not been raced.
#9-Marcos Ambrose: the #9 Richard Petty Motorsports team has prepared chassis No. 805 for this weekend's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Indy. This DEWALT Ford was run previously this season at Phoenix, Richmond and Pocono.
#14-Tony Stewart: and crew chief Steve Addington are bringing Chassis No. 14-735 is a brand-new racecar that has never turned a wheel on the racetrack, but it has been wind-tunnel tested numerous times.
#15-Clint Bowyer: Primary Chassis No. 716 finished sixth at Las Vegas, 36th at Kansas (mechanical issue), 13th at Charlotte, and 16th at Kentucky. Backup chassis No. 730 raced at Texas where it started 18th and finished 17th. It also raced in the Sprint All-Star Race where it started 12th and finished 14th. Bowyer will make his seventh career start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday. In six previous Indy starts, he has two top-five finishes (4th in 2006 and 2010) and four top-15 finishes. Bowyer has finished 19th or better in each of his six starts. He started 26th, led two laps and finished 13th in 2011.
#16-Greg Biffle: and the Matt Puccia led #16 3M Ford Fusion will bring primary chassis RK-817 which is a brand new chassis. The backup chassis is RK-786 which last ran Homestead in 2011 finished 35th.
#17-Matt Kenseth: will run primary chassis RK-808 which last raced at Michigan. This weekend at Indy, Kenseth will pilot the #17 Fifth Third Bank Ford Fusion
#22-Sam Hornish Jr. and his Todd Gordon-led Penske Racing #22 Team will be racing their "PRS-829" Shell-Pennzoil Dodge Charger this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This is a new chassis in the "Double-Deuce" team's fleet of Dodge Chargers. The "PRS-819" chassis will serve as the backup Shell-Pennzoil Dodge for this weekend. This was the car that AJ Allmendinger drove to a second-place finish in the April Martinsville race.
#27-Paul Menard will pilot Chassis No. 380 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. This #27 NIBCO/Menards Chevy was built new for the 2012 season and will be utilized in competition for the first time at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
#29-Kevin Harvick: will pilot Chassis No. 371 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable in this weekend's Brickyard 400. This former #33 racer was transformed to a #29 Jimmy Johns entry during the off-season and will run its first competitive laps this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
#31-Jeff Burton will race chassis No. 359 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. Burton drove this #31 Rain-X Chevy to a top-10 finish (sixth) earlier this season at Bristol Motor Speedway after starting 33rd. The chassis was utilized three times last season including Charlotte (started-fifth, finished-21st), Pocono (started-eighth, finished 17th) and Dover (started-13th, finished 11th).
#36-Dave Blaney will drive the No. 293 chassis, which he drove five times this season and five times during the 2011 season. Blaney's best start with the No. 293 chassis was 17th at Richmond and best finish was 23rd at Phoenix this season. TBR purchased the chassis from Richard Childress Racing, where Jeff Burton drove the chassis prior to its debut with TBR.
#39-Ryan Newman Chassis No. 39-733 is a brand new chassis for the #39 Quicken Loans team. The chassis has been wind-tunnel tested twice in preparation for Sunday's Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
#42-Juan Pablo Montoya: crew chief Chris "Shine" Heroy and the #42 Target Chevy team will return to Indianapolis with chassis #1107. This chassis has two races of experience, the October, 2011 Kansas race and last year at Indianapolis, finishing 23rd and 28th, respectively. Chip Goode, rear tire carrier for the #42 Target team, will make his 500th consecutive NSCS start going over the wall this weekend at IMS.
#43-Aric Almirola:: The #43 chassis No. 783 for the Indianapolis race. The #43 Eckrich Ford team has previously raced this car at Kentucky; Charlotte, where Almirola won the pole; Texas; and Las Vegas.
#48-Jimmie Johnson: Chassis No. 728 serves as the primary for Johnson at Indianapolis, which won at Dover in June. Chassis No. 669 serves as the backup last ran at Las Vegas, finishing 2nd.
#51-Kurt Busch Sunday's Brickyard 400 will be the first race of the 2012 season for Chassis No. 676. This car is a new chassis for Phoenix Racing. Prior to becoming part of the Phoenix Racing fleet of cars, this chassis was used by the #88 Hendrick Motorsports team.
#55-Mark Martin: will drive MWR chassis 726 which finished 12th at Fontana and 20th at Darlington with Martin behind the wheel. Backup chassis is 732 which finished 34th at Charlotte.
#88-Dale Earnhardt Jr.: crew chief Steve Letarte and the #88 crew will unload Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 88-734, which is a brand new chassis. Diet Mountain Dew has kicked off the Paint the 88 program for a third year. Earnhardt fans can visit www.Paintthe88.com to create and submit their favorite custom look. Earnhardt will select one special paint scheme for the #88 Diet Mountain Dew 'Paint the 88'/National Guard Chevy that he will drive at Talladega. The website is accepting submissions until Friday, Aug. 3. In 12 Sprint Cup starts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Earnhardt has recorded two top-10 finishes and led 61 laps. In five of those races, Earnhardt lined up sixth or better for the historic event. He scored his best finish -- sixth-place -- at the 2.5-mile oval in 2006.
#99-Carl Edwards the #99 Fastenal Team will be bringing RK-820 this weekend to Indianapolis, which is a new car making it's debut.
