  • How to Calculate Track Speeds: use the formula Speed = Distance divided by Time. Distance is Track Length, and Lap Time into Hours. Once hour is 3600 seconds, so the calculation for a 48 second lap at Daytona(2.5 miles) would be: Speed = 2.5 x (3600/48), = 2.5 x 75 = 187.500mph. For a 19 second lap at Bristol(.533 miles): Speed = .533 x (3600/19), = .533 x 189.474 = a speed of 100.990mph

CHASSIS SELECTIONS

  • No More Chassis Selections: Recently, six more teams (4 at Hendrick and 2 at MWR) have stopped posting chassis selections on their race preview.
This leaves only 5-8 teams posting chassis selections.
Two years ago 25-28 teams posted chassis selections in their race previews.
It dropped to about 14 in the early part of 2015 and now just a few teams.
Will no longer post Chassis Selections as most are not available

    Tire Codes: Left-side -- D-4596; Right-side -- D-4600

Notes: Teams in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series will run the same Goodyear tire codes at Daytona this week . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires that these teams have run at Daytona since July 2013 . . . Xfinity teams have also run this tire set-up at Talladega the past two seasons . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Daytona . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
