  • How to Calculate Track Speeds: use the formula Speed = Distance divided by Time. Distance is Track Length, and Lap Time into Hours. Once hour is 3600 seconds, so the calculation for a 48 second lap at Daytona(2.5 miles) would be: Speed = 2.5 x (3600/48), = 2.5 x 75 = 187.500mph. For a 19 second lap at Bristol(.533 miles): Speed = .533 x (3600/19), = .533 x 189.474 = a speed of 100.990mph

CHASSIS SELECTIONS

  • No More Chassis Selections: Recently many team stopped posting chassis selections on race previews.
    This leaves only a handful of teams reporting/posting chassis selections.
    So, will no longer post Chassis Selections as most are not available

TIRE NOTES & FACTS

  • Tire: Goodyear Eagle Speedway Radials:

    Set limits:
    Sprint Cup: 5 sets for practice/qualifying, and 11 sets for the race;
    Xfinity: 8 sets for the event

    Tire Codes: Left-side -- D-4428; Right-side -- D-4640

    Tire Circumference: Left-side -- 87.32 in. (2,218 mm); Right-side -- 88.39 in. (2,245 mm)

    Minimum Recommended Inflation:
    Left Front -- 30 psi; Left Rear -- 30 psi
    ; Right Front -- 54 psi; Right Rear -- 50 psi

    Notes: Teams in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series will run the same Goodyear tire codes at Charlotte this week . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires these teams ran at Charlotte in May . . . NASCAR teams have run this left-side tire code (D-4428) at Charlotte since 2012, but this May was the first time they ran this right-side code (D-4640) . . . Xfinity teams also ran this right-side tire code at Darlington last month . . . this right-side is a Goodyear multi-zone tread tire, which incorporates two distinct compounds on the same tire -- one for endurance and heat resistance on the inboard two inches of the tread and one for traction on the outboard 10 inches . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Charlotte . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
