  • How to Calculate Track Speeds: use the formula Speed = Distance divided by Time. Distance is Track Length, and Lap Time into Hours. Once hour is 3600 seconds, so the calculation for a 48 second lap at Daytona(2.5 miles) would be: Speed = 2.5 x (3600/48), = 2.5 x 75 = 187.500mph. For a 19 second lap at Bristol(.533 miles): Speed = .533 x (3600/19), = .533 x 189.474 = a speed of 100.990mph

    This leaves only a handful of teams reporting/posting chassis selections.
    So, will no longer post Chassis Selections as most are not available

TIRE NOTES & FACTS

  • Tire: Goodyear Eagle Intermediate Radials

    Set limits:
    Sprint Cup: 5 sets for practice/qualifying and 10 sets for the race;
    Xfinity: 6 sets for the event;
    Camping World Truck: 5 sets for the event

    Tire Codes: Left-side -- D-4612; Right-side -- D-4626

    Tire Circumference: Left-side -- 87.64 in. (2,226 mm); Right-side -- 88.35 in. (2,244 mm)

    Minimum Recommended Inflation:
    Left Front -- 14 psi; Left Rear -- 14 psi;
    Right Front -- 34 psi; Right Rear -- 32 psi

    Notes: Teams in all three NASCAR national series will run the same tire set-up at Phoenix this week . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires that Sprint Cup and Xfinity teams ran at this track in March . . . Goodyear reconfirmed this tire set-up at a tire test at Phoenix on October 12-13 . . . drivers participating in that test were A.J. Allmendinger, Kurt Busch, Matt Kenseth and Brad Keselowski . . . for Camping World Truck teams, they ran this left-side tire code (D-4612) at Phoenix last year, but this is the first time running this right-side code (D-4626) . . . compared to what the trucks ran here last fall, this right-side tire features a construction change and a compound change to enhance grip and help rubber-in the track . . . as on most NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, teams will not run inner liners in their tires at Phoenix.

    Goodyear Blimp: Goodyear's "Sprit Of Innovation" will be in the air over Phoenix International Raceway this weekend . . . this airship is based out of Carson, Calif. . . . the "Spirit of Innovation" will provide air coverage for NBC Sports' broadcasts of both the Xfinity race on Saturday and Sprint Cup race on Sunday.
