Holiday Time Traditions

This month, people all over the world are celebrating holiday traditions. No matter what holidays you celebrate, it's a special time of the year when family and friends come together and enjoy each other's company.

There are a few traditions that unite sports fans all over the world. This time of year isn't just for decorations and parties. It's also a time for big games.

Basketball: Over the years, December 25 has turned into one of the most important days on the NBA calendar. December 25 features some of the league's top matchups. This year there are five games on the schedule, the two biggest being Boston at Orlando and Cleveland at the Los Angeles Lakers. The Celtics/Magic game features the last two eastern conference champions, still two of the best teams in the conference. The Cavaliers/Lakers game is a true showdown, featuring the game's two biggest stars: LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. The Lakers are the defending NBA champs and the Cavs are looking to make a championship run of their own. These two games give fans a chance to see the most exciting players and teams in the sport.

Football: New Years Day has long been associated with great college football games. Up until the 1950s, every bowl game was played on January 1. Now, games are played on different dates around the holidays, but some of the biggest still take place on New Years Day. The Gator Bowl (West Virginia vs. Florida State) pits two major programs against each other, and the Sugar Bowl (Cincinnati vs. Florida) will be a fantastic game between two top-five programs. The highlight of the New Years Day bowl schedule is always the Rose Bowl, which will feature Ohio State vs. Oregon this year. These games are a great way to close out the college football season, while ringing in the New Year at the same time.

Over the years these sporting events have become true holiday traditions, adding a dash of excitement to a joyful time of the year. So kick back, relax and enjoy the company of friends and family while taking in some of the best sporting events of the year!
